Vtec not working
Posted this in the hybrid section but maybe i could get help in here too.
Well, i let my friend drive my car and since he's new to stick he kinda stalled a couple times and whatnot, causing major vibrations when the car died. Also, when he was driving the CEL came on. I tried checking the code, but the CEL light doesnt blink, it just stays on. I treid to reset the ecu and pull the negative battery terminal, but still no luck. So, my car cuts fuel before vtec, any help will be apreciated. This also a h22 in a civic.

is the fuel cutting off or is it hitting a rev limiter...i would guess that the fuel is cutting off...hummm...this is a good one! Have you check the solenoid to see if hasnt messed up? They can stop working and "freeze up". There was a post here while back telling how to check the solenoid, it is suppose to click all the time when the car is running...atleast i believe that is so.
Yea, i looked at the list about trouble shooting vtec. The only thing i have left to check is use another ecu, which vtec does work. I took apart the selenoid and checked the filter, everything looked fine.
dont forget about the oil pressure switch, if the switch is bad then the computer gets on signal. Oil pressure is what engages vtec. I could only think the solenoid is bad. Or the pressure switch. was your car already wired or did you run the wires?
Yea, im sure it was warm enough. When it is cold tho, it will not cut fuel at 5k rpm, and will let me hit red line(no vtec). When it is warm enough for vtec, it will cut fuel at 5k rpm and feel like it's hitting the rev limiter.

so which is it, cut fuel or rev limiter. 2 different things. Rev limiter will keep popping if you hit it, fuel will cut off and you will have one pop by the enigine if you reach fuel cut off.
I have this problem too. I was gonna make a post but saw this thread and didn't wanna make another thread bout same thing.
I was driving to a friend's house and my vtec was working fine. After an hour of driving normally, I decided to hit vtec. Well, my vtec ddin't hit. At one point, vtec hit at 5500 rpm. And now, my vtec is not engaging. On my VAFC 2. when I hit 5k rpm, the light turns red like i'm hittin vtec but I dont feel it.
Any idea's on my problem too????

Well in my case I hit fuel cut off at 5k, so i cant even get past 5k rpm in my car. You might want to check this thread out tho.
