valve lash problem..

Default valve lash problem..

got a 92 prelude with h23. ran good with a tick so i adjusted the valve lash now no tick motor sounds good except at idle it putts. when i press the gas it sounds good only when it idles it putts. ne ideas?

what if you re-adjusted your ignition timing and idle..
(by the numbers)

thats what I had to do when I adjusted my valves..

It may be possible that you have set the leash too tight. It could be choking itself at low idle

ok i have it figured out. they were too tight and the dizzy was all the way advanced for some reason. the feeler gauge i used the first time was too old and worn so it was inaccurate i bought a new one re adjusted the valves and timeing and now its good thanks for the help guys

And make sure to adjust them when the motor in completely cold.

i'll sqeeze one last post in here......

if you ever get a chance, you should try go-no-go feeler gauges......I used them this last time and I gotta say, It made a difference

make sure lash is set 'completely cold' like 3 hours or overnight...

you set some valves or all of them too tight

need to make sure that they are all the same, so after you do each valve, check & recheck the clearances to be sure that they stayed what you set.

You want 6' intake & 8' exhaust

ive got them pretty good now cars running good with no ticks anymore. i think i did have them too tight due to a old worn feeler gague was giving me wrong readings. thanks for all the help.
