Default v-tec controller..are they really worth it?

i was planning on buying a v-tec controller for my 01 prelude sh. Does it do anything, cuz i've heard its just a waste of money. If it does does it help a lot.

whether or not its beneficial for you depends on the mods you have now, and the tuning of your car after you get it.

VAFC and a dyno and yes... you will see improvements. Anything else, you're on your own.

the more mods you have, the better it is. just make sure you get it tuned, dont tune it your self.

You should get an SMSP 4-1 header when it becomes available, a 2.5'' mandrel bent exhaust with any muffler of your choice, 2.5'' carsound cat (or a test pipe if you can get past emissions and don't mind the smell or excess noise), hondata intake gasket, aem pullies, and skunk 2 camgears. That setup will make some nice power once your VAFC is tuned correctly look for close to 190-200whp.

Does it do anything, cuz i've heard its just a waste of money.
you probably heard that from people who tried to tune it themselves without dyno and didn't "feel" any difference.
the SFC/VTEC controller will give you some nice gains if tuned right and accordingly to your mods. don't expect huge gains or anything though.
most people don't know how to analize dyno results and therfore make false statements that this or that mod doesn't do **** because it only showed a 1.5hp gain and such. this will be the case with VTEC controller/SFC. you will not see some huge numbers up top, but the midrange will benefit the most. 10-15whp gains are the common ones (depending on other mods) i've seen so far.
i think this is a worthy mod, not only because of the 10-15hp you could gain, but also because of what it does to the power-curve.
it gets a big in my book.

You should do all the mods you want to do first and then do the VAFC. Every mod you add makes changes in how it should be tuned. Do it last so you only have to tune it once.
