Type-S engine suitable replacement?

Hey everyone, I have not posted here for a long time so I'm not up with current happenings but I need to figure something out.. First a little background:
I have a Type-S and enjoy it, a few weeks ago it lost power in vtec going uphill, results of a compression test are - no compression in cylinder 1, good compression elsewhere.
I'm in the UK and rebuilding engines here is often very expensive - it may well be cheaper to get another one. Type-S engines are RARE anywhere though... SO I'm wondering what else is 'the same' as I obviously already have the correct ecu / intake / outtakes etc.
I was wondering if anybody knew if an Accord Type-R engine would work (same internals I believe)... I need to know if it has the correct holes on the back of the block for ATTS.
Did you guys get the H22A7/8 over in the USA? I understand it was introduced later on in the Prelude lifecycle and has the same internals as the Type-S engine but without the intake/exhaust / ecu mix that bumps the power up? Would that mean the block would have the correct ATTS mounting holes?
Does anybody have a picture of the ATTS mounting holes on the back of the H22A block so I can start rummaging?

The H22A7/8 are not USDM engines. Those are specific to Europe. The H22A8 from the 2.2 VTi-S will probably be your best route.
As for the mounting points, just check the SH vs Base thread in the FAQ.

To be honest, after doing a bit more reading I think I'm ****ed!
Looks like a rebuild is pretty much the only way as Type-S engines hardly ever appear for sale (and then cost more than a standard Prelude)....
On PreludeUK there are a number of Type-S' .. Almost every one has had a serious engine problem so perhaps those engines are somewhat delicate compared to the standard H22As...

They sport higher compression and more aggressive cam profiles than the standard models. You should probably figure out why you have zero compression if that is the case. I could see having low compression, but zero compression is a bit uncommon unless you dropped a valve.

U2Q7 is shorter (better acceleration) and has LSD. Moreover you have better intake and exhaust header in A7. My friend after very good tune on Shell VPower Racing 100octane fuel got 239HP/239Nm from his stock A7.
Another friend has Type-S with good commpression and gets only 198HP with some bolt-ons.
The other way to go is to get H22A8 from VTiS, then you'll be able to retain ATTS...
