transmissions problem. PLEASE HELP!!
hey, my name is linh. I had recently bought a 2nd generation automatic 94 honda prelude. It seemed fine when I bought it from the private owner, but when I got home and drove it again, I experienced some problems that I think might have to do with the transmission. When I started my car, there was a strange noise as if I was reving my engine. When the sound occurred I realized that my speedometer was changing up and down durastically. After that I noticed the noise, I shifted into reverse, and the car jerked. It was as if I could feel the whole car shifting, and then I freaked out. I'm an 18 year old girl and I don't know anything about cars. This is my first car so I would be really happy if someone had some answers to my problem. thankkkk you!
sounds like a clutch problem if you shifted into reverse and the car moved... and made noise while you started it. Probably didnt disengage completeley. Check your clutch adjustment first of all. Its a little screw type thing at the end of your clutch line on your slave cylinder (attached to your transmission - open your hood and you'll probably recognize it) Turn it all the way one way and if that doesnt work turn it all the way the other way.
make sure your car is fully warmed up before driving. 4th gen so the digital TEMPERATURE light should be up in the middle (3rd bar)
..maybe it was just a cold start.

do you mean your tachometer was bouncing up and down? If so you should check out this thread- https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1979500 Your car jerking when shifted into gear could have been caused by a bouncing idle, so read through that thread, and see if you can solve that issue first.
