Default Transmission removal

I'm swapping my engine this week, and have a quick question for somebody that knows more about this than I do. I'm replacing the F22A1 in my 95 Prelude with a JDM H22A. I got the old engine/transmission pulled last night, and started working on removing the transmission from the engine, and got stuck. I've removed all the transmission mounting bolts, and the clutch cover, and that bugger will not come loose. Anybody have any tips on separating the engine and transmission?

there is one bolt hidden on the back side did you remove that one? If your on your back the oil filter sort of blocks it from your view. Oh yea when you do break the tranny away from the engine remove the suspension tension rod to ease the removal of your tranny.

I did get both bolts on the back side, I think 5 or 6 in total. I took a rubber mallet to the trans casing on the front, and it started to separate, maybe 1 or 2 mm, but it isn't separating at all on the back side. Do I need to remove the mount back there? Also, I dont' think the suspension tension rod will be an issue, as the whole engine/trans assemply is completely out of the car, and sitting on the floor of my garage.

I know my transmission had 7 bolts total to remove. 4 on the back, 2 on the top and 1 by the starter. But your working with a different engine. Double check to make sure your not missing any bolts. I used a big *** screw driver and found a pry spot on each side and pryed it a little at a time till it came loose.

I just called a mechanic buddy of mine, and he said it should just slide off, pretty easy like. I must have missed a bolt somewhere. Thanks for all the help guys! I'll let you know how it turns out.

one of the bolts that holds the starter in place holds the tranny together also. If you missed that bolt it will not seperate, i've taken my f22 out twice now and it will be a third and final time in spring which im also replacing with a h22a. hope that helped.
