Default Engine Removal

Sup VTEChnicians? I Got another question for you. I am removing a B18B1 out of my '94 Integra and I was wondering if I have to remove the Tranny with the engine or can I remove the engine just by itself.

it would be in your best interests to remove engine and tranny as a whole.. it would be a bundle of work to just remove the engine.

I Figured it would be easier to remove just the engine insted of droppin them both. Cuz dont you have to remove the axles and all of that when you remove the tranny or what?? If I were to remove both what all would I need to remove and in which order?

To remove the engine, you would first have to drop the transmission, which is a TOTAL and HUGE pain in the *** with the engine still in the car (I have done it twice, on my car and my brother's del Sol myself).

Either way, the axles have to come out. It's much, much MUCH easier to pull out both of them together.

Thanks everyone. I Got it out. I just took the engine out and it was pretty simple. Granted that I had the intake and exhaust manifolds off. I had the chains tenchioned on the cherry picker, loosended the bolts to the tranny, removed the engine mounts, took out the tranny bolts, and used two pry bars and seperated the two.

So you left the tranny still in the car? Dang that just seems like much more work. I know you had to remove the axles because you must have had to tilt the engine or tranny or both to get the tranny input shaft out of the clutch and flywheel.

No really it wasnt. It took 5mins once the motor mounts were unbolted. Its an automatic right now but the new B18 I got came with a 5spd so I now plan on converting it.
