check the belt. it might have stretched or needs to be adjusted ... check your timing again ... if thats fine go over your ignition system ie, distributor, coil and what not.

dependent upon the tensioner/quality of install job, you could have jumped a tooth on one of the cams....and that would do it....

i hope you didnt bend any valves.....

and really, there is no reason to spend the money and get a greddy timing belt....

from what im reading it sounds like id did jump a tooth .... considering it ran fine before running in vtec .

if a valve is bent would i hear a knock ?

Did you check it with a timing gun to make sure everything
was correct?

If not, get a timing gun on that **** asap.

yeah definitely check the ignition timing....but i doubt thats your problem unless you didnt install the t-belt at #1 tdc.....

i doubt you would hear a knock if you bent valves.....you just would have a louder valve tick than before....

If you don't hear a noise like somethign hitting...it's liking the teeth are just off...get it checked immediately

Thanx for all the relpys ... ive been out of town , just got home ....
havent had anytime to mess with the car - before i left i did however check the timing and its fine , car starts up and runs - has no knocks or valve clicks .

but will not idle once warm , and sounds like *** (almost sounds like misfire or not enough gas). it still rev's up strong , its just when you lightly give the car gas or hold throtle in one position that is messin up.

when i get a chance this weekend im going to reset the ecu - go over all my vacume lines - probly recheck the plugs (may even put the olds ones back in).

are you positive that it is?

Did you jump the service connecter when you timed it?

is it at 15%btdc?

no i didnt ... im working with no timing light . (like a dumb ***).

but i made for sure all timing marks are perfect and moved the distibuter slowley into every position and still made no difference.

what could cause the oil spraying from my exhaust?

I'm not sure on that.

Are you sure that there isn't an oil leak anywhere else.
If you're driving on the highway and the oil is leaking, it might
appear that it's coming from your exhaust, when it really is coming
from the underside of your car.

You need to get a timing light on it so you can know for sure
that it is ok.
