just bought this H22a powered civic
I know this engine is from a prelude
just wonder what its purpose is or was

its for emissions if it was done right there should be no problem running the car

EGR Block off plate. Honda OEM # 18711-pm1-j00

If you are running a stock ecu that is looking for EGR, it WILL throw a code, and it WILL(not) cause limp mode if not corrected. If you are running a chipped ecu or engine management system, it is easily turned off.

It won't cause limp mode on an OBD1 set up. I wouldn't think it'd cause limp mode for an OBD2 since it's only an emission problem.

Ah I could have sworn it caused limp mode as well, since everyone was working so hard to fix EGR systems. I guess it is just for emissions testing. I haven't had EGR on my car for years haha.

EGR delete. Despite the belief by the DIY crowd that egr is only for emissions, the reality is that egr plays a large role in fuel economy as well, in fact since feed back controlled vehicles became prevalent, the emissions portions of egr is secondary to FE.



However in the quest for power, FE is the last thing many care about.
