Default shifting problems

got a 97 lude with a new auto in it, but it came out of an 01... was told everything would work, but now that it's in I dont have 1st or 4th gear (just 2nd and 3rd). Guessing it has something to do with the solenoids, probably the front 2... anybody have any guesses as to how to fix my dilema?

Check the wiring, are u getting any codes. My helms manual shows for auto trannies that it has its own codes, and the the d4 light blinks, when jumping the service connector. U might wanna try that,

ok, the only things I had to change out (due to connector differences) were the 2 solenoids on the front, the 2 on the back, and the tach. Have been told it's could be I need an 01 ECU... sound right?
