Re: Send Me Your Engine Serial Number
I'm a big man so here goes.....I WAS WRONG.
Definitely not an SiR S-spec Prelude. Definitely an Accord SiR. The P2A8 transmission makes little sense. It came with the F23 engine, so previous owner definitely skimped on the swap.
Another thing to note: The serial # from your transmission verifies that it is not USDM. The P2A8 from the 1998 USDM Accord starts at 5000001. The 1999 starts at 2000001 & 2500001 (depending on where it was made).
I heard it was 3 years.

Re: Send Me Your Engine Serial Number
So instead of me owning,
# Found in the Japanese 5th gen Prelude SiR S-Spec and Type-S (BB6). It produces 220 PS (162 kW; 217 hp) @ 7,200 rpm & 163 ft·lbf (221 N·m) @ 6,500 rpm and comes with a "red top".
In actuality... I have,
# Found in the Japanese 5th gen Accord SiR Coupe (CD7). It produces 190 PS (140 kW; 187 hp) @ 6,800 rpm & 152 ft·lbf (206 N·m) @ 5,500 rpm and comes with a "black top".
This makes me dislike my motor much.

Re: Send Me Your Engine Serial Number
A combination of sources: Helms manuals, HMotorsOnline, other H22 owners, etc.
Keep in mind that the "Prelude SiR S-spec" idea was just a guess. I stated it in the other thread. I've done some research on it since then.

Re: Send Me Your Engine Serial Number
Kronn, what do you think about making some kind of list for people that have bought or had bad engines to report problems with a particular engine so that people don't wind up buying the same bad engine?
I just bought a bad engine that had a 4th cylinder head gasket leak and now am about to start up another used engine from Attarco. I've only heard good things about Attarco, but I started thinking there should be a place to cross-reference serial numbers to see if a particular engine has been reported as either bad or even stolen. I think a one-for-all list or database would be great.

All types of engines have good things and their downfalls. Alot of those motors experience the same problems at one point or another.

Re: Send Me Your Engine Serial Number
What's your year stamp?
My data shows you have a 1995 Si VTEC (BB1 or BB4) that came with the M2A4/M2B4.

it looks to be pointed at A and 1 on the other stamps
what's the difference between BB1 AND BB2 ?

Re: Send Me Your Engine Serial Number
Or you can look at it like if you buy an engine from a nonreputable place then you're looking for trouble. Given that anyone that posts their serial number on here is making a time stamp showing that they own said engine and have the goods to back it up then you're actually doing yourself a favor it it gets stolen from you because quite possibly someone can look it up and see that it's stolen and/or owned by someone else and lay off of it making it less profitable/more risky for people to steal engines.
