functionally, there should be no difference. It could be that Honda changed the marketing name, because each describes a sequentially firing multi port fuel injection system. The other type of multi port FI would be a batch fire system, but I doubt Honda has used such a setup in recent years (its significantly less effective at atomizing fuel).

Sequential Injection is where each injector has it's own driver and the injection is timed specificly to the cylinder for the best injection time.

Batch Fire Injection is when there are multiple banks of injectors that fire together. For 4 cylinders it would mean there's one injector driver for 2 injectors.

MiltiPoint fuel injection is when all the injectors are fired at once. There is no control of individual injectors.

Sequential injection has an advantage at low RPM's, idle, and driving around town. It's also better for emmissions which is why it's starting to become universal. As injection duty cycle rises the advantages of sequential injection are not as great. Engine Management Systems like the older Accell DFI used multipoint injection which is fine for drag racing at full throttle, but can be difficult to street tune on large injectors.

Honda has always used sequential injection.
