Well I have a RHD converted and no its not illegal as long the car has not been cut more than ¼. I cut the firewall and welded the JDM. The only thing that a bitch to finding the doors or switches. But its pretty cool to have it, oh also its my daily driver.

damn, that's cheap for a front clip. I would've boughten it and spent the extra 2K to have the work done. In the end, you could just turn around, sell it, and make more money off of it

Why are people saying that doing a RHD conversion is pointless? I see it as just doing a project kinda like doing a motor swap. Both are projects, and get lots of looks IMO. If I had money, I do a RHD conversion, but, I'm broke, and can't find a cheap front clip

hey guys, i'm new to the board but this looks like my thread. I'm in the middle of an RHD conversion right now. I'm waiting on my new clip to show up but had an old clip and started swaping things over.

I'm not replacing the firewall just moving the parts over since most of the points to maount things are already there.

The only problem I have right now is my JDM door panels don't use the US clips and now I'm trying to track down someone in UK, canada, or Aussie to get them to show me how the clips are pinned.

if i find this i'll be good to go. I'm doing a complete front conversion minus any body panels. I just placed the side markers in the US fenders untill i find some JDM ones in good condition. My clip is a full clip but the fenders didn't make shipping.

After about 2 years of planning the only thing I don't have to complete the car is the rear window and wiper and the bump pole which I may or may not get.

i'm going to keep track of the whole swap on my website once it really gets rolling. Right now I'm just wiring things up to take the Japanese harness from the dash forward.

once this is all done the car is getting painted Phantom Grey Pearl.

I have two clips, one i got for $100 on ebay and the other (which will be here Fri) for $2400 which was complete with all body panels, yellow corners, yellow fogs, black one piece and LSD tranny and 4ws.

You guys know if any oversea's luders look at the fourm?

OOOPs! didn't see BB4's post above, any chance you can get me some pics of the control unit clips so i can repin mine? it would help a ton!

i dont think its illegal when you buy the car as a right hand drive. (coming from the factory) but i think its illegal if you convert it. i think it brings up safety issues. but hey if you want to be the most ricest car on the block go for it. i rather spend my money building up my car or takin a vacation or something > coverting to rhd

right now i'm waiting on the clip to come in, only thing going on with the swap is the carpet and dash is out and i was going to wire up the doors withthe JDM door panels but need to know what the JDM clips are pinned to rewire the US clips to take the JDM wires under the dash. (this should also make for a nice plug and play digital climate control. Once it gets here there will be a ton of work to do.

I have swapped over the steering controls and ran the wires for the rear wiper. Put in the center channel dash speaker (which will be put in the RHD dash once i check and see if my other one is in better condition) Wired up the power folding mirrors but will redo those once I get the door panels in. I wanted the JDM door panel lights on my US panels so I swapped out the bottom of the panel. I'm just going to swap out the arm rest area and the controls to get the door panels setup for the new dash. But again I need to know how the JDM plugs are pinned so wire up the doors.

Ricky - how much trouble was it to swap out the firewall?

its not much trouble. but i dout you will be able to just switch the parts over. i thought that way to untill i started to take everything of. it was to late to look back so i contiued with the convertion and swapt the firewall. now on the wires that took a while, what i did was to conected wire per wire (by color) and check if it works. for example with the usdm wiring diag. check the color code for the tail lights and find them in the conecter, connect it to the jdm harnest (same color) and see if it works. its not eazy but not impossible. good luck man it took me like 6-8 months just the swap.

uhh, if you have jdm doors and it has the jdm wires then you can. What I need you to do it take the door panel off and look at the clip that plugs into the door controls. Just tell me starting from the upper left with the plug facing away from you and the wires towards you what colors are on the clip.

Simple as that. Once i have the pin order on the JDM plugs i can wire in my doors.

I posted pics of the state of the car like a month ago. Since those pics were took I've pulled the inside of the car, hooked up the JDM wipers and removed the fenders and front bumper.
