Default resleeved block???

hey guys,

I just bought a block and How the heck do i tell if it is resleeved??? it doesn't look resleeved, but there seems to be aftermarket rods (crower) and pistons (can't tell but there are serial numbers on the pistons at the bottom 209???.
any help would be great.

it is a closed deck block. how do i tell what year block it is, guy i bought from said its 98. he didn't know if it was sleeved or not.

better check out those crank journals... make sure no bearing spinnage.. have to have it checked out with a micrometer.. also put a straight edge on the deck ssee if it needs to be redecked.

its a H22A Jap spec I'll try to take pics He said he has a h23 crank in there.
What happened to the block is that he dropped a valve in the 1st cylinder. the cylinder walls aren't that badly scarred, but the piston is thrashed and the other ones don't look to hot either.

If there were forged pistons in there without the block being sleeved then that could have caused the problem. Take it to a machine shop or take some pics, but you want to make sure it has ductile iron sleeves before you run forged pistons on your motor or it won't last very long.

It's very easy to determine if you have stock sleeves or aftermarket sleeves. Are your cylinder walls a light grey looking color, with a dark section towards the top of the deck?

I'm going to bet it's not sleeved. I'm sure the guy would have known if someone spent $800-1000 sleeving it or not.
