removing a/c compressor

sorry for the noob question, but the bearing on my compressor seized up and i need to remove the compressor and replace the bearing and possibly the clutch...there is a huge plastic shield blocking the bottom and i have to go through the alternator to get to it from the top...what's the best way to go about doing this? thanks

Go from the top. Take your PS pump, and alt off.
