Knock sensor, get a manual, too simple of a question to be asking here and have your wallet ready...

If you car goes to knock - you won't know now.

You need that sensor as a precaution.

^It only works in low and mid rpm range, it wont protect a car being driven hard at 7-8k, you can still have detonation with it just now you'll throw a code and no more VTEC until you fix it.

you won't notice much out of a broken knock sensor. But im sure if you drive around with it like that for awhile it's bound to throw a CEL, and possibly run in limp

You must have gotten lucky if only the housing broke off the knock sensor and you got it back together. Usually when the knock sensor breaks, you ruin the disc inside and it throws a CEL and puts you permanently into limp mode. They're about $100 for the sensor when you do replace it.

Try around $160, and that was with employee discount from the dealer... D=

I've heard of people in like civics with H swaps overriding the sensor...you might be in alright shape but you're still taking a gamble. Im assuming it's not throwing a CEL then? i'd prob just replace it, do what marlin said just grab one from a junkyard or something for cheap.
