puttering narrowed down
Goddamn I'm sure ur sick and tired of hearing of this, because I'm getting sick of diagnosing it.
Long story short, I have loud puttering at half to full throttle, and I tried cleaning out my TB, but no use, checked for exhaust leaks no use. I DID notice my speedometer would go up and down a couple times when I revved my engine, and I have heard that a crazy tachometer is sign of bad distributor, Ignition Coil, ignitor, rotor, cap? But it's my speedometer that is whack.
One more thing I think it might be, dirty fuel injectors, but how would this only putter at full/half throttle, AND from the looks of my spark plugs, each cylinder seems to getting fuel...
Any thoughts would be greatly greatly appreciated, I'm getting desperate.
OK so tonight I pulled off my distributor cap and distributor and here's what I saw:
The rotor rotates freely, so that means distributor is ok. I DID find a small amount of "red dust" in the cap, but not very much at all, only under close inspection was it seen, is this normal? The cap connectors look fine...Also, can I get a timing light at just about any auto store, because after removing the dizzy, it was obviously rotated; I think I'm gonna retard the timing a bit anyway.

I'm not using a FMU, and I'm positive it's not my plugs because I'm using the plugs u recommended personally the ngk bcp7es gapped at .032, and i had them gapped at .030 before and it was the exact same. My best guess is dirty fuel injectors, so I think I'm gonna send it to cruzinperformance tomorrow, but im really reachin in the dark now. I thought distributor, but I didn't see anything abnormal except a minute amount of red dust in the cap
I'm putting money down that you are not getting enough fuel when you are hitting boost. So basically, you are detonating your motor. Install your FMU until you decide to tune the car and properly have the afc-hack working. Just because you have an AFC hooked up does not mean it's running the hack.

Gude, Im not even in boost when it starts puttering...
it putters at medium to full throttle at any rpm right from start, and I haven't even taken my car to full boost nor past 5K RPM while driving because it's untuned and I've tried to be as cautious as possible. Essentially I've taken it around the block for small "test drives" It idles fine, and is less putter when engine load is not as high (neutral compared to uphill)
I DO strongly believe the afc is working properly because I can feel the changes when I mess with the air correction settings, and I've messed with those a LOT, i've leaned it from 0% to -40% and the puttering is unaffected, while fuel is obviously affected (by feel and spark plug checks)
In addition, while cleaning my TB, i revved my engine with the intercooler piping connecting to the TB unattached and puttering was the exact same, so it doesn't seem to be boost related.

Triple check all of your vafc wiring, it sounds to me like a MAP signal issue of some sort. Either something is not wired properly or the settings are not appropriate.
OK, I'll triple check the wiring. Does MAP signal just send intake manifold pressure in a form of a voltage, if so my afc is definitely reading pressure correctly, and sensor settings are right at 06 in 06 out, and any other sensor settings I've messed with stall the car. So my intuition tells me my afc is wired right, but I'll check
