Yeah, anything you do can be unsafe... just don't go in excess and you'll be ok.

If you are going to use a 75 shot or less, you don't need a fuel pump, rail, or new injectors. All you need is the nitrous kit and some colder spark plugs.
I prefer NX wet kits instead of a NOS or ZEX dry kits.
You DON'T need all kinds of extra crap to run nitrous safely. There are all kinds of jokers out there saying you need fuel pumps, high-flow rails, ignition, wires, and a bunch of other bullshit. I have run nitrous and have friends that run nitrous.
Many people say you should get all this extra crap because they "heard" that someone else said you should get it. They have no first hand experience themselves.
If you have doubts to whether or not you need a certain new upgrade, just call up NX, and they will give you a straight answer. Unlike the stores that sell the kits, who just want to sell you more junk because you "need" it.

OK, first of all... did you stop to think that some of us have had nitrous experience too? You aren't the first one to have some juice, and you won't be the last.
I can't even count on ONE hand how many people I've known who have blown up motors with laughing gas. One of them didn't replace his fuel pump, and on his SECOND SPRAY lost numbers two and four pistons. 50 shot.
I never said you needed those things, but I did say that its a good safety measure.

I never said I was the only person who has nitrous experience.
Melted two pistons with a fifty shot? I believe you. But I highly doubt the fuel pump had anything to do with it. More than likely the person juiced it for too long at one time, used it in 5th gear, used it while NOT at WOT, or used it at too low of rpms.
Any of these situations will melt pistons with the greatest of ease in a short time. Misuse of nitrous will frag any motor. Fuel pump or not.
Prelude fuel pumps are not too shabby. I know a guy running 14 pounds of boost on his H22 with the factory fuel pump and an additional injector controller.
