Hey everyone... I'm a total noob when it comes to my 89 Lude Si, and I need some help... I don't think the air filter has been changed in forever, and I think it's about time to swap it out with a new one... I got home tonight, popped the hood, but among the seemingly endless maze of intake tubing and chambers, I don't see where a filter would go.. Any ideas where to start? I tried searching, but found nothing pertaining to this...

the filter goes on the end of the intake, it's a big box close to your battery, ya can't miss it

 

Have you looked under the hood of an 89 Prelude lately? There is no "intake" like on a 4th gen 'lude... The engine bay of my car looks like this, but with more plastic tubing...

 

it there under all the wires and stuff it like bolted on so you have to take the bolts out...... the location of the ....well follow your fuel injetier.....it goes and point down......i took it out and it was a mess but really worth it i made a custom in take buy have a k&n filter connected...... there is no way to get a real inttake system going in that lude but you can still have a short ram intake that will really beneifit you......tkae every apart then pm back and ill let you know whats up atfer that

 

Its a big cylinder lookin thing. Its on the passenger side of the engine towards the firewall.

 

yup very correct..... if you want to desent intake flow you need to take out everything and find a size of the stock filter. try to get a K&N filter......... then when you are done it should just rest on this bar of some sort.....ight
