Poor man's Bpi flowstack
I took my filter out today to clean it, and got an idea. I remembered seeing a velocity stack at autozone and I always thought it just might fit into my filter. So I figured what hell why not waste the 20 bucks for the stack to see if it would fit and to my surprise it fit perfectly into the filter. I had to do a little cutting of the filter but basically the outer shell of it fits perfectly over top the velocity stack.
Advanced auto filter

Autozone velocity stack

The only part of the filter i had to cut was just on the inside, which was easy because the filter came in two pieces. There was a bolt on top that held it together and once that was removed I pulled the inner shell out and just reinstalled the top part of it with the screw on top.
Part the was cut off that you don't need.

Small part of inner shell that was reinstalled inside the filter to hold the foam in place

Then I just took the velocity stack and pressed it up in the bottom of the filter, it was such a good tight fit I didn't even need anything to secure the velocity stack and the outer shell of the filter together. But i did have to stick my hand up the hole and pushed some of the foam down around the outer edges.

Here's the filter installed. I still need to cut about 2-3 inches off the end of the pipe to make it fit better but you get the idea.

I took a test drive around the block, but I didn't really get chance to test it out at full throttle for more than a couple of seconds, but I did notice a definite decrease in the mid range power dip, and the entire power band just seemed to be a lot smoother. Definitely worth the 20 bucks to me.
