It doesn't turn on when you crank it, right?
Green immobilizer light flashes?
(Incidentally I'm not sure that your car would work either way with the setup you have, given that you're auto)

Besides immobilizer light blinking there is also a D4 light blinking for trans.

There are 3 parts to the immobilizer setup. (Key, Immobilizer unit, ECU) You'll have to bypass the immobilizer itself to get the car to crank.
But I doubt the car will work anyway, since it's auto. (see blinking D4 light)

You don't have to bypass the immobilizer when installing a P28. I have a P28 NepTune RTP ECU in my car, and I didn't touch the immobilizer circuit. Perhaps he unplugged a part of the immobilizer (receiver, immobilizer unit, or something else, perhaps)?
I suspect it's because he's replacing an auto ECU, so the TCU is probably causing problems.

Actually there are 4. The receiver is separate from the immobilizer unit itself.

Are you using your original (chipped) key though?

Yeah, stupid me. I missed the part where he's saying he doesn't have the proper key. You're right, he'll have to bypass the immobilizer. I imagine the D4 light is flashing because the TCU is looking for the auto ECU and it is not finding it.

It doesn't matter if the ECU has an immobilizer circuit in it or not. The immobilizer unit itself will still function without the ECU.
It's for an auto trans from a different car, with a different auto trans (one without "manual" shifting), so the TCU is probably very different.
