Default overheating problem

i have a 97 prelude and it starts to overheat at idle. the car's temp gauge usually sits right below the middle and after about 10 mins it goes about 3/4 the way up. it moves real slow so it doesnt seem to be too urgent but when i drive away it goes right back to where it should be. any suggestions on whats wrong would be helpful. thanks
