To ShayneRizzle Im curious as to how your friend spun a bearing due to no back pressure. My buddy has an ls/v with about the same compression and we take the exhaust off at the track every time because we get better times all day long.
idk we had swapped the perfectly running engine from his DA to his DC and the headers wouldnt conect to the stock exhaust so we left it open and about two nights later while driving the car hard with two passangers it spun and later threw a rod on cylinder 1 maybe it was the combo of no back pressure and added weight?

Maybe it was due to poor driving, poor install, or just a coincidence and the motor's time to visit Honda Heaven.

x2

My buddy's daily exhaust on his ls/v is 2.25". he makes 196whp so I wouldn't consider it high HP. I doubt running open header on a dyno would show any gains but I promise it shaved a tenth off his slip.

Very loud, you can smell it every time you stop... But I ran my car for probably about 6 months open header and no damage here. I now have a Megan test pipe and 2.5" piping that stops at the rear LCA. But as far as backpressure I agree it is a myth, running open header isn't until you get your exhaust fixed won't be an issue as far as damage to your car is concerned. Maybe your hearing, but otherwise no.
