Re: OMG!! What happened to my timing belt? PICS!!!! (PirateMcFred)
Thanks Pirate again.
When I take the crank pulley off and the lower timing cover and take pics I will resixe them all together. Took most of the stuff off today like the mount and p/s adn whatnot...but couldnt get the crank pulley bolt off. I am getting the air gun out for that one.
I ordered the conversion kit from Honda...the pulley is $70. Wow...all together it was around $130 something for all the parts...sigh. Guess its worth a $1000 in damages.
Will update soon...

Hello,
We also had trouble getting the crank bolt off. We even had air tools and they wouldn't break it loose. So you may need a strong air gun to spin it off. We ended up taking the access cap to the fly wheel off and holding the fly wheel with a bar to get the crank bolt loose.
You probably know, but there is a special tool (Alltrade 648796 Honda Crankcase Pulley Removal Tool) that you can order (amazon has it) that fits the 50mm hole going into the crank bolt. I can see where this tool would be invaluable to doing this job. If we do this again, I will get this tool as well as the tool to hold the cam sprockets in place. We ended up breaking the ear off the TDC sensor trying to get the everything off, if we had this tool, 90% of our trouble would have been prevented.... At any rate, I would highly suggest this tool if you can't get it with the air gun. Holding the flywheel works too. But with my luck so far, I am just afraid of breaking a tooth off of the flywheel.
Going to pop the valve cover on mine tonight to check the belt again.
Good luck,
Michael

Oki doke...here we go.
You can't see it but I've already pissed on these auto tensioner parts.
You can see where it ate the grooves off of the timing belt. The starter was just spinning on this...making a "wee" sound. Figures.
The manual tensioner and everything on and adjusted. I opted to use the H22 balancer belt pulley instead...I had to use washers to space it but I got it almost perfect.
I started the car without any of the accessories hooked up and it started up just fine. I believe though that the intake cam is off by a tooth? Started up just fine though...I'm going to take the timing belt off again and see if i can get that to lin up correctly.
The tension on the belt is ok and it didnt immediately walk off. I only had the car run for about 1 minute though. I will update you when i fix the timing and get it on the ground.

Just wondering what ever happened with your timing belt problem. Did you get it back together and working? Did the manual tensioner fix the problem?
Thanks,
Michael
