Re: new v2 intake (Cottonwoodz)
cotton, I'm sure there are numerous graphs around, but I feel lazy, how much of an improvement is that over the first AEM CAI ?

The v2 is an over priced flowmaster. Import Tuner did a comparo on the new and old AEM intakes on a Civic. There was a max gain of .4hp. If you look at a cut away of the v2, you'll see that it isn't very aerodynamic.

so show us a cut away.

The new V2 is a gimmick, a joke. Just look at the cut-away side section and tell me how that's supposed to be any better. It's just gonna kill the flow, if anything.

I'd really like to see some proof of this as well. Afterall AEM was the company to bring you the most popular CAI on the market and rightly so based on their proven HP gains. I just don't see AEM releasing a "gimmick" product since their sales are directly related to their reputation and dyno reults.

If you look at their "dyno" results you'll see that its a lie. 15hp from the old intake??? Not gonna happen.
You have to put the whole thing into perspective. Its a $300 intake!!!! Whoever pays that much for that piece of crap is retarded. I'd rather have some dryer hose and pvc than pay $300 for an intake. For about $350 I can make a similar one but with GOOD aerodynamic flow out of titanium.

I'm sure they exaggerate like all companies do but there will still be gains noticed from real world dynos.

Then make them and sell it, I bet you'll make a ton of money.

Re: new v2 intake (HaleLude)
TPR magazine SR/CAI Comparison Test Results. They used a '99 Civic SI w/37k miles on it for the tests, on a Dynojet 248.
That should help if not settle, put some real numbers behind the argument, somewhat anyway. No it's not exactly SCC; TPR is a brand-new mag, and IMO they half-assed the comparison test (there were no torque numbers..?).
AEM was pissed afterwards because the test did not back up their "claimed" results from the V2 intake, and not even they could reproduce them, which was fishy...Click here to read the article: AEM Challenges TPR's Results.
The V2 apparently actually did perform relatively well, up until 6k rpms where the Injen 2 pc began to whoop it's ***. & no, that doesn't mean that I think it's worth ripping my V1 out and replacing it with the V2; it makes me wonder if I should have bought the Injen...
edit: I thought the fact that TPR ran each intake on the test vehicle in the 1/4 was cool. I've NEVER seen a magazine do that before. If they can earn some credibility, I may even subscribe.
The new issue is on stands now, I think I'll at least flip throught it. If it doesn't look like IT inside I may even buy it, instead of just tearing out the good pages, shoving them down in my sock and walking out like I usually do...
