Need help QUICK
Putting some pads in the rear of my prelude. Should they be really tight between the retainers? I basically had to tap them in with a mallet. I read somewhere they should move freely and if they are tight to sand down the edges. Is this correct or should they be held tight between the retainers?
thanks.
thanks.
They should slip right in. Did you rotate the pistons into the calipers? They have to be turned like a bolt. Use a straightblade screwdriver and use the side of it to rotate the piston back into the caliper. Make sure to lube up the slider pins with wheel grease or something like that.
I havn't put the caliper back on yet, I was still wondering about the pads cause they didn't go in easily. Im reusing the old retainrs (top and bottom) from the old pads.

they should fit the same way the old ones did. Not "loose" but they should be able to slide freely. Make sure you have the right pads. I don't see why you couldn't file them slightly. Use the old backing plates for examples of how things should fit.
I ended up filing them a bit and they fit in much better, not loose, but enough friction to stay in place, but also move away from the disc as well.
