Default changing rear brake pads?

Alright I already asked the guys in the integra forum, just need a answer kinda quick..

How do I push the piston back so that I can fit the new pads in. I tried to just push 'em in like I do in the front but they don't seem to move. Do I need to have some special tool or something, some kinda screwdriver cus It seems like it twists, But I can only twist it so far

Thanks

yes you need a C-clamp and your old brake pad.

There's a Snap-On tool that you can use that "screws" the piston back in (so your assumption was right, it does turn). Or you could use a very long screw-driver and use that to try twisting it back in. Either way, it doesn't just push in like the front. HTH.

The rear pistons "screw" in and pushing them WILL NOT work.

A VERY LARGE flathead screwdriver will, though.

***IMPORTANT!!!***

When you screw the pistons back in, make sure that the piston is arranged so that the check holes in the caliper sit exactly even with one of the cross sections on the piston.

It's hard to explain. The piston looks like an "X" so you want to set it where it where it looks exactly like a "+" and not an "X" you know?

If you don't set the piston right, the pads won't fit back in because they have a "pin" on them that won't allow you to git them in unless the pistons are lined up right.

One more way for me to explain it:

Look at the rear caliper. There is a hole in the caliper that is supposed to be a viewing hole to see how much pad is left w/o having to remove the calipers. You want the piston to have one of it's lines lined up directly with this inspection hole, or the pads won't go back in.

Does that make any sense?

Got it...

know what you mean....there like a little nipple stickin out of the back of the pad. It needs to go between the "X' groves on the piston...

I hate when S&^* like this happens...took me 5 minutes to do the front brakes....took me 3 hours to do the back....at least I finally "learned" how to do the rears
