Default Need help with H22a4 problem

My friend just swapped a 2001 h22a4 into his '92 Prelude SR (non vtec). He reused his old engine harness, but added the wires for the VTEC solenoid etc. He is using a 95 JDM H22 ECU (OBD1) with 95 H22 injectors (310 CC's, Peak and hold)

The car just isn't running right. It idles fine, but when you get on it, it stumbles and hesitates. Its as if it is not getting enough fuel. His fuel pressure is set to spec, and when we test the injector wires with a test light, we can see the light go on/off when the injectors fire. The injectors tick when they fire, but hardly any fuel comes out. The rail has fuel.

We think its either the ECU or the injectors, but the ECU fires the injectors.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have the a/f checked. You may need to have that adjusted and tuned. Probably going to need something like an Apexi vafc to control fuel.

Are you using the SR injector resistior box? Did you remove the H22A4 injector resistors?

Are you sure that the H22a4 has resistors, since it uses Saturated injectors?

h22a4 engine has no resistor assembly since it uses saturated injectors. I think he's saying he will need the resistor assembly to work with the peak and hold injectors that are being used.

What does the resistor box look like. I do not think that it was removed when we took out the H23, but I will double check.

Other than that problem, we have no codes or CEL

The resistor box is in the driver's side rear corner of the engine, a grey box with ridges on it. The injector signal from the ecu has to go through that resistor box before it gets to the JDM injectors. Is it set up that way?

check your map and tps make sure you dont have them switched so many people do that its amazing, when there switched the car will idle fine and when you hit it, it wont go anywhere fast

if the car is a 4th gen the map sensor should be on the firewall but if the motor is a 2001 h22a4 then the map sensor is one the top of the throttle body. make sure it is connected to the one on the TB or if you want to use the one on the firewall, make sure it is connected to a good vaccum source....also check the TPS....

you dont need the resistor box unless your running 550cc injectors or higher. The conversion to high or low impedence is unecessary unless your making some serious power or have a rex with a jdm 91 b16. I have 320 no resistor box lude motor in a hatch. Im good never nedded nor added one o any of the 18 prelude swaps ive done. Except in a 01 accord with a 93 motor.
