Hey, so i bought this h22a4 the other day for a buddy. and when i got it i wanted to check if the iternals werent shot and to put a new headgasket on. but when i got to the head stud the were arp nomal 14 mm but the nuts. these nuts are a 17-19 mm nylock nut that are kiddey corner from each other one is on exhaust side 2nd one down from timing area and the other one is on intaje side close to the EGR. i do not now how they got them in there because the 17 18 dont go on the nut but the 19 is too big to get in the the hole. heres a pic of the nut.

 

Are you using impact sockets? Or regular ones?

 

ive used 3/8 and a shaven down impact but didnt crack it.

thats odd there were only 2 out of the 10 or however many that were like that? try buying a more expensive/thinner socket non impact, did u try standard sizes?

 

yeah ive tried using thin walls. the opening for the head studs are .988 thousands and all the thin walls are like 6 thousands off

 

can u get a socket extractor in there?
