mechanic advise
I have a 93 Prelude SI and it has seen a few miles. It has been leaking oil and running a bit rougher than normal, so I took it in to the honda mechanic in our neighborhood. He came back with the following diagnosis at an unbelievable quote:
CS Leaking oil
Radiator Leaking
Master Cylinder leaking
Right CV boots cracked
Cam Seal and Timing Belt
Oil Pan Leaking
I've read through the forums. You guys are more knowledgeable about engine work than I am. What, in your opinion, is legitimate and should be handle first? I have already had my timing belt and water pump changed. Also, what parts can I buy online and have them install in order to save $$? I think it is still a great car. I am just surprised at all this work needed.
Thanks for you help,
Kelli

Re: mechanic advise (autonovice)
All that stuff could very well be leaking or damaged...but it just depends on to what degree.
For example, he may have seen a little oil spot on the head and said you need a new cam seal. If you don't change it out, what will happen? Probably nothing, but it is leaking....
Try to get some more quotes and find some people you know to look at the car and give advise. Mechanics charge $70-80/hr most of the time and if you can work on your own car you save a LOT. Try to look around in there yourself and when you have questions use the search feature on here and you may decide to try some stuff yourself.
