Master Cylinder Help(brake)
WEll I put on a new(used) master cylinder last week with some bramd new ss brake lines.....my master was shot and caused all kinds of fade issues, anyway after the replacement everything felt very stiff and good.I noticed a couple days later I was low on fluid and my master was seeping where it meets the brake booster.I checked the bolts and it was tight.....why would this do this? Is it dirt or something causing it to seep? Please help if u have any ideas.

if it leaks where it meets the booster, then your piston seals are leaking and you need to get a new master. I assume by used, you mean re manufactured? If so, take it back to where you got it from and ask for a new one

Since the booster is under vacuum, I would rule out a leaking o-ring on the push rod. Maybe the fluid resevouir isn't seated or sealed correctly.

Re: Master Cylinder Help(brake) (Perfectionist)
Actually its used like from a junk yard....it looked perfect with no leaks where it met the booster.
And I checked where it joins at the resevoir and it is bone dry.
Come to think of it the problem I was encountering before was once in a while after driving around a bunch my pedal would turn to mush but after I let off and re applied pressure it was ok to break. But when I installed the new master cylinder and the lines....I had to bleed the entire system out and noticed some white milky looking fluid....like water in the lines which would cause it to boil and fade like I described.......Im thinking maybe my old master was fine in the first place, and I just needed to blled the entire system, but I dont know.....any input......
and does what I described the fluid to look like match what it looks like with water in it?Thanks for any help.
I just dont want to do it 2 more times, nor can I afford to buy a part that I dont need right now.
