The other day my cars idle got Fucked up (up and down ) Really low at bout 500 rpms and it like Lost power in first gear.. I then pulled over and the engine light came on. Code 3.....

Now question is:

are all honda map sensors universal

ex: take a map sensor from an accord?


or is it prelude specific?

also, the wire on the map sensor.. seems to be frayed then coverd by electrical tape? could it have shorted or soemthing? I then recovered it with electrical tape and the problem has not Come up since!!!

 

the 4th gen prelude map sensor is slighly different than most hondas because it is mounted on the firewall as opposed to on top of the throttlebody. depending on which car you get it off of... i'm sure that you can make it work on the prelude. but it sounds like you might have a lose connection since after you re-taped it the problem never resurfaced.
