Guys so much info I might just end up boosting my h22 just doing some reading on all these options. I have a H22A4 out of a 99 lude in my 2001 accord and the motor has about 65k if I wanted to put togther a turbo kit and run about 5-7psi what turbo would you recommand, I aint looking to put down crazy power but about 250whp range safely on a daily driver. I was wondering would just going turbo on a stock block would be ok at this point, I was thinking of using Cometic MLS Thicker Head Gasket to lower the compression a bit but how thick would you think is ok for the gasket. Or would you recommend getting The MAHLE GoldSeries H22 Piston Kit C/R 9.0 along with some turbo camshafts, springs and retainers because I really don't need to make a lot of power and don't want head work just upgrades to lower the compression and just have a pretty safe setup tuned so what do guys think or what do you suggest
Also I want to confirm that The MAHLE GoldSeries H22 C/R 9.0 Pistons work with out sleeving on the H22A4 and not just the H22A

If you're shooting for 250whp, go with jrsc and you'll save yourself the lag. The Mahle pistons are great and proven. The oem pistons are the weak part in the bottom end. The sleeves in their own are very strong. Pm superdave and also post in the FI forum.

Make sure you have the cylinder walls properly honed. You'll have a tough time finding a shop that will even work with those sleeves.

Thanks for the response guys, I can't use the JRSC because won't fit in the accord engine bay.

Hope you do some research/calculations on picking the right turbo. For anything under 300whp, you should be able to get away with low amount of lag provided you correctly size the turbo.

According to a lot of guys, you'll be fine with a stock block and only 250whp, provided you have a good clean tune and that block is in ok shape, I wouldn't worry about that too much unless you have the extra money.
I'm jealous of blake now, I want a low boost quick spool setup, that would be fun.
Of course after its on and low boost gets old, the **** gets cranked up....LOL

Superdave from the WhipFactory here in Chicago, assembled an engine for a customer. Iirc, it's at ~350whp+ and still running. Hone and assembly are key.

They don't come with FRM compatible rings? Do I have to us oem rings in them? Because when I called the local Honda dealer they wanted like $400 something for a set of rings.

What are you talkn about... only 250whp. There are people with way over that on stock block. The amount of power has alot less to do with the saftey of the block than the amount of psi and tunning. I talked to a guy that lived in nc that was running @ 12 pounds daily. Also another person on prelude power at 9psi daily and has been that way for years. I think a compersion test and leekdown test is a must also before boost. Anyway... its all in the tune. To the OP, 5-7 psi... you dont need to waste money on Mahle pistons. When your ready for an engine build.. do it right and go with forged pistons and get that sucker sleaved.

But I have heard from multiple people that they work.
Myself personally am looking at going with the Darton press in liners probably. Just to get away from the FRM nightmare.

I mean yea... some people have had bad experiences tho. Most of what I herd are good reviews. There is a guy right now with a 5th gen supercharged lude using them making 230whp @ 9psi . I would get them for a low psi setup like the op wants. I wouldnt try to do anything crazy with them tho. So to answer the Op's question about will it work with an H22a4, the answer is yes.

yeah, Dont try to run 20psi but dont see any reason why they wont work for a DD low boost car.
and only 230 @ 9psi ? seems a bit low to me. Maybe its the SC. For some reason the sc #'s dont seem as high as the turbo #'s.
