ok well i had this knock in my block and my mechanic said it was my balance shafts i was scepticle because it sounded like it was coming from the tranny side of the block. i took my balance shaft belt off and well the noise is still there. i am going to pull tranny tomorrow to see if it is my clutch or flywheel that became loose again. any other ideas, like 3 nights before that i was racing and hit 3rd gear at about 105-115 misshift of course but only for a split second did not see what my aftermarket tach read but i know it wasnt good. if i fried a bearing wouldnt it go out right there and i could hear it? this noise is almost like a T/O bearing went bad but i just had them replace it. between shifts and when revving its like a grinding/banging. and when the car warms up and is at complete idle the noise is the worst and bangs more but if i put my foot on the clutch it gets rid of the noise. think it is a clutch or flywheel, or something with crank i really need input on this thank you.
