Keyless Entry
hey every one, i have a 97 SH and have remote FCC ID A269ZUA101 which my local dealer has told me is the correct fob via my VIN. using the basic instructions to program it the locks will not cycle there for not entering program mode. this is the second remote I've tried to program, not sure where to go from here, any advice would be great, thanks!
I have programed a few factory key fobs in my day and the first thing to note is:
If you get one step wrong you need to start from the beginning. I'm not sure what exactly you need to do to start over it but it's usually just turning the key off for a few minutes. If the manual says wait 5, wait 10. Always be sure.
Second thing, make sure you progress through the steps fast enough. The system may automatically reset if it has to wait to long.
Third, read the manual very carefully enough times that you have the steps memorized. And I mean carefully, factory manuals are worded funny at times and you don't want to memorize the wrong interpretation.
Forth, just be diligent and keep trying. And don't get frustrated. You need to perform the steps EXACTLY.
And the last thing, I have found on occasion that the manual can be wrong so if you can't manage to get it. Try calling a few different Honda dealers and ask to speak to a tech. The service reps usually don't have a clue.
Good luck, and may the force be with you!
