Default Just one quick question...

I have narrowed down my search for a lude... i found a 93 vtec for 6k, but the guy might have a prospective buyer. i really hope the buyer doesn't come through, because i want the car ! i also found another car, but i'm not sure if i want it. it's a 1992 lude Si, and it is in MINT condition, i mean not a scratch or anything. the problem is it has 190,000 hiway miles on it. it was female owned, and very well taken care of. they want 5k for it, but i would probably try to talk them down. what do you think about the Si, if the VTEC doesn't work out?

If the car is pristine, then take it for what you can get it for, and drop in a h22a vtec motor for $1500-2k. That's what I would do!

Either way i'd go vtec; unless you have plans to strip and build it, then it's negotiable.

If the vtec doesn't work out, try to do as above and buy the si and save for a motor swap.
I am assuming that the car being pristine is important, and that you probably aren't interested in stripping the si. Because if you are going to strip it, buy a cheaper( read as beat down) si and start building it. A good starting platform is important , but it is pointless to spend more money on accesories that are going to be of no use.
GOOD LUCK though.

If you drop a H22 into a SI lude, one thing that many owners forget it to upgrade to VTEC brakes as well.. Those cute little SI rotors won't stop ya..

well i had no plans to strip it and make it into a race car... i just want a ride that has something that my civic lacks.. torque!! i drove a few si's and they really aren't that bad, but i really have my heart set on the vtec lude. i am gonna call the guy again tomorrow, and see how that situation is. wish me luck!
