installing MSD ignition
Does anyone know where all the wiring is? do you wire into the coil plug or do you do all the wiring with the distributor cap off? Please reply back!!
I have MSD in my car, I'll take some pics of the set up and try to explain to you, my engine is out currently so it'll be the best I can do. Gimme like 10 mins.
Ok, first things first. I'm writing this like you have no idea what your doing so don't take offence I just don't know what level your at. You also have a different ignition then I do, but installs are easy.
Disconnect you battery. Negative comes off first always, and always put back on LAST.
Next, take your MSD box, if you using the 6a like you said theres a little round dial on the side. Pop the cap off with a screwdriver. To set it to 4 cylinders you need to cut the RED AND BLUE loops. That'll set it to 4 cylinders.
Next find a mounting point. Best if you use near the battery/stock air box location for this install.
Now, heres the tricky part and I couldn't get GREAT pics of because my wiring harness is in a clump on my windshield(again my engines apart)
Ok First:
There are two heavy guage wires (12g) that come with a kit. You wire the RED directly to the positive on your battery. The BLACK goes to the negative on your battery terminal. This is the way MSD suggests to do it.
Heres the correct wiring diagram:
ok so, the red and white wires are the trick you need to find this on your wiring harness:
should be behind your instake manifold. Cut the wires and solder and heat shrink wrap new cables on like I did long enough to reach your MSD wiring. The yellow/black is now your positive connection, (connect to the RED wire) the lone green wire is now the negative (original coil negative wire) connect this to the WHITE wire.
The next step is to mount the MSD ignition cylinder:
There should be a bracket included to mount this.
Now install this wire from the MSD ignition cylinder that you just installed:
and attach it from the MSD cylinder to this point on the distributer cap:

Reconnect your battery and give it a try. I think that was everything, and questions feel free to catch me on AIM my screen name is "xDavey Darko" I'll be on for a while

so are the wires that you are cutting into are they the ones that are coming off the stock coil plug? another thing, when your done do you plug the stock coil plug back into the stock coil or do you just leave it off?
oh yea i was talking to a guy and he said if you put this on that your RPM's are going to be off by a few hundreds? is that true? if so do you know how to fix it?

Yes to both questions in the first post, leave it off.
I had no problems with my rpms being off, my fuel cut off was always where its suppose to be on my tach, only issues that come up are(according to MSD) if your tach stops working connect it directly to the MSD box in the tach spot. other then that no issues.
