I need HELP!!!
ok, i'm sure everyone has read about this problem over and over.
PROBLEM: i own a 99 prelude and the car is idlong funny. its fine when im driving, but when i pull it out of gear, it dies on me. aside from that problem my car bogs big time. some times it bogs at low RPMs and some times at high RPMs.
SOLUTION 1: changed the spark plugs, wires, cleaned the throttle body.
RESULT: still drives like crap.
SOLUTION 2: after driving it for a while, i got the CEL. i plugged in an OBD2 reader and the I got a EGR error. i cleanded the crap out of it and then reset the CEL
RESULT: cars still stalls and bogs.
SOLUTION 3: the CEL came back on and now the OBD2 reader says i have a MAP higer than expected. i'm not sure what that is, maybe you guys can help me out.
RESULT: i took it into a dealer and have them do the recall for the ignition switch(hoping that would solve the problem), but it still drives the same.
now i have the same problem but without the CEL on. is there another way i can diagnose the problem?
my friend told me to change the distributer assy but i remembered i had it changed last year, and it was pretty costly. i think it was around 500 for parts and labor. could it be the same problem? cuz i remembered it would just not go pass 3000RPM before i had it switched, it didn't stall on me.
one more thing, im also due for a new clutch, could that be the problem? if it was a clutch problem, it would just not grab at all right?
well i hope this make sense to you guys. im just very frustrated and stressed right now, cuz i have to worry about the prelude and i also have to service my BMW. plus i also have to study for Mid-Terms!!!! AHHHH...
PLEASE HELP, i'm almost out of ideas of what to do and going low on cash...

Damn, same exact problems I'm having
Did you replace your fuel filter? I did all this, but my problem isn't as bad now. I still need to check my fuel pump
Clean your EGR valve
Clean your IAC valve
Clean fuel injectors/buy new gaskets
Check plugs
Check plug wires
Map Sensor
Check compression
Check fuel pump

where's the IAC vavle and the map sensor, also how do i check compression and fuel pump.
oh yeah one more thing, how do u get to the fuel filter, i tried numerous times and it seems impossible to get to.

To get to the fuel filter, you'll need 2 extension or just one really long one and a swivel (can't think of proper tool name) its bends on the end so that you can get to odd angles such as the bolt to the fuel filter. Any auto part store should sell them. The IAC valve is bolted to the front of the intake manifold right behind the valve cover. The Map sensor is ontop of the throttle body.
