I apologize if this is a dumb question
What is the difference between these engines h22a1 h22a4. Was there a build difference, compression, power longevity. Which is better to mod?
You really should do some searching, but I the H22a1 is the 92-95 OBD1 h22 vtec. And the H22a4 is the 96 up is the OBD2 h22 vtec.
Its an ongoing debate on wich one is better to mod but most say its OBD1.

That's what I thought too.

I dis-agree. If you're going to use different (forged) pistons, you're going to have to re-sleeve the motor ANYWAY. - Both engines have an aluminum liner that can't handle the forged pistons. Moving on. So you should do this to the 5th gen... WHy? They have larger mains. -- Really only important if you're planning on HUGE power, but I didn't see any specifications here.
And I have an OBD I p28 computer on my 2001 H22a4. (Hondata) The 5th Gen is NOT permanantly tied to OBDII.
