Default H22 Swap??

I've been doing a lot of reading and searching on the H22 Swaps into a 4th gen Cb7 accord. My one question so far and I may have just overlooked it when I was reading the searches is as follows.

Is there a difference in the H22 from a 92-96 Vtec prelude and a 97-01 Vtec prelude. Also can an H22 from a 97-01 prelude type-S be dropped into a 4th gen. accord?

I know I can search for days on this but I'm sure there's people out there that already know the answer.
It's a fun topic so lets talk it up.

92-95 closed deck design
96-on open deck design
92-95 obd1
96-on obd2
the 97-01 can be swapped into the cb7 just watch out for the ecu that requires the transponder key and you will have alot more wiring to do, if it stays obd2
by the way 96 also might be closed deck design but Im not sure. If I were you I'd go for the 92-95 h22 but thats just me.

96 is closed deck as well...you don't really want to mess with the obd2 stuff...just stick with the 92-95 motors...

Thanks for the update, OBDII doesn't sound like it'd be very fun to deal with, closed Deck?? That term flies right over my head.

this site shows the difference between open deck and closed deck, its not very detailed, but you can see what they mean.

An open deck block means the cylinder walls are freefloating (no connection besides the bottom of the cylinder) Where as a closed deck the cylinder is connected at the top and bottom of the block.
Closed decks are going to be more ridged while a free floating (open) cylinder is going to distort or flex under high rev/heat circumstances. That distortion or flexing can cause a number of problems, everything from blown headgaskets to improper ware of the cylinder walls. Read up. Lots of good info about this topic. I'm no geniuous but this is a good to know so you understand what application will work best for you.

Perfect thanks for the info, nice to see others getting involved in the post. I guess it's crunch time, gotta save up the cash. I've found a source for a 92-96 JDM-H22A

I believe the F22B1 is an open deck. It has iron cylinder walls not F.R.M. like the H blocks. The F motors can handle some pretty bad abuse.

What are you telling me about the F22...? I guess I'm a little lost. Why can it handle more abuse?? Are you talking abuse as in boosting it or nitrous?

Just as a side note. Drove my F22 with about mmmmm 1qt of oil with over 210K miles on it for about a week tryin to blow it up hitting redline continually and it still runs. Go Figure.

I have been doing some more research and have found a company that makes OBD1-OBD2 conversion harnesses. Putting a 97-01 H22 Type s into an 4th Gen. Accrod. The engine I would like to get comes with an ECU and they say wiring the original H22 harness. http://www.totaljdm.com

Which adapter harness would I need? http://www.boomslang.us
OBD1 to OBD2
OR
OBD2-OBD1

Thanks for any info anyone may be able to provide.

Dude the lude axels are male and the accords are female, there is no way they mix and match. and Gmoultz12 you're better off converting youre 97 or later engine to obd 1 and get an obd 1 ecu to go with it.
