High Idle Problem need help
I have a 93 prelude that idles cold at 3000 then moves down to 2500 when warmed up. There is no surging, it stays constant at those rates. The idle also flares all the way up to 4000 momentarily when the car is started. I have tried changing the IACV and there is no air in coolant lines. Not sure what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

lol dude that is the problem..it doesnt hide it..its your fast idle valve...you need to adjust it and your idle will go down. its a common problem...if you look at the past threads over the last week there have been atleast 10ppl asking the same thing. its under the throttle body attached by 3bolts. take that off and its a white plastic peice. screw it in but not all the way down. that will bring your idle down. if it is to low then you will have to unscrew it..trial and error should ilde around 700rpm
you realize there is an idle screw on the TB which adjusts the idle too.. no need to take off the FITV unless there is not enough play in the idle screw..
also, check your throttle cable isnt too tight!

I have messed with the FITV when my idle fluctuated from 1000-2500 up and down constantly. I had to replace the FITV which of course fixed it. Now I am having the problem of a warm idle of 1300 rpm. I just fixed a couple coolant leaks and will now adjust my manual idle. There is more to it than just adjusting the screw. It is controlled by the ECU and IACV and is done as follows:
If your idle is stable but either too high or low then you need to adjust it with the idle screw, don't just turn the screw blindly! The correct way to do it is by letting your car warm up (wait until the fan comes on), then while the car is running disconnect the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) electrical connector behind the intake manifold, then adjust the idle screw to 800rpm. After doing that turn your car off, reconnect the electrical connector, then disconnect the battery for a while (at least 15 mins.) to reset the ECU because you will have a CEL, doing this will get rid of that CEL.
I will let you know how mine goes tonight.
