Default High Flow cat?

I've been shopping around for a high-flow cat because my is so clogged up, i wanted to revive a couple HP. I ran a straight pipe in my old exhaust set-up which was a Greddy EVO II and it didnt sound all that great, a little ricey at mid-RPM :/ .. im now running an Apexi N1 full cat and was wondering if anyone was pleased with a certain brand of high-flow cats or if it even mattered? can i shop on ebay and get a $50 one with the same quality a san expensive one? will my car go back to sounding like ***?? thanks!

just any replacement really. i read an article that tested the difference between a stock cat, high flow cat and a test pipe and the difference was only 1-2hp. and that much can vary just due to temp so cant really say it was due to the cats themselves.

ur thinkin of running a test pipe with an N1? its gonna sound a lot more ricey than it did with ur evoII.

i also read that article in honda tuning, the test pipe put out the most power if i remember correctly. however its a miniscule amount of power plus its not gonna pass emissions.

ur better off gettin a good high flow cat such as a carsound(made by magnaflow)

Well the tree hugger in me says go get a regular cat, but to solve your problem I think you need a resonator. That'll help cancel out some of those high pitched high freq raspy ricer sound waves in your exhaust. What size diameter piping are you running with the N1?

N1 + at least a 14" resonator = my fav sound ever.

I got a carsound cat from http://www.kteller.com

I have mated it with a 2.5 exhaust...I love it. One of the best upgrades!

Just a side note, on my g/f's old car she passed emmisions here in Colorado, which is fairly strict, with a pipe through her cat. I put mine on my car for etest and it super clean/fast passed. I should have left my resonator on to see if it had passed first.

what exactly is a test pipe compared to a cat?
and where does a resonator go on your exhaust?
