Default Help! (please)

Hi Everyone. I'm in desperate need of some help here. A couple months ago I aquired an '86 Prelude Si as my winter car, and up until a couple days ago, everything worked great, the only problem was a weak battery. Even that wasn't a problem unless i left my lights on, or i was in a traffic jam.

2 days ago, while driving home on the freeway (i was doing about 75mph) my speed began to slowly drop. I had my foot on the pedal where it was when i was doing 75, but it was continusly dropping. The rpm's remained the same (did not drop), and as I began to apply more pressure on the gas, the engine didn't rev. My speed dropped to 50, and when i pumped the gas, it stayed at 50 as long as i was pumping the gas. About 10 min. later it dropped again, so i pulled onto the side of the freeway. Another 10 min. later i decided to try to drive again, and the prelude drove fine! About 20 miles later it began to drop again, this time i was near home so i decided to try to make it home. The fastest the car would go was 30mph, as long as i was pumping the gas. Again, the Rpm's did not drop with the speed change.

My problem is I cannot check my trans fluid, because i cannot locate the trans dip stick. I know that sounds terribly stupid, but i looked everywhere! I was told it probably isn't the trans since the engine didn't rev when i applied more pressure to the gas.

Anyone have this happen to them? Any ideas? Can someone please explain to me where the trans dip stick is? haha... i really appreciate any response, thanks so much in advance

It sounds to me like it could be a clogged Cat.

hey man sorry to hear about your lude maybe i can be of some help. if you car is a 5 speed there is no tranny dip stick manual cars dont have them. if its an auto it should be coming off the tranny from the passengers side. it sound to me that eiether your exaust is clogged, your car is not getting enough fuel, or your alternator is going bad. i would get some injector cleaner and run it thought the fuel system any other questions ask
