help me!!! disassembling block.

Default help me!!! disassembling block.

well i got an old H22A1 block for christmas from my girlfriend (best girl ever). and im trying to take it apart so i can get it hot tanked and probably honed. well i cant get the bearing cap bridge off, or the main caps for that matter. does anyone have any tips on that for me. ive never worked on a block before. thanks in advance.

You have to use some kind of plastic or wooden tool, like the handle of a wooden hammer and gently pry the girtle through all 4 corners. Work your way around it and pry it up, it will be on there pretty good. But once you break it loose it will come off easy.

dont use a screw driver or any metal object to do this as you could cause damage to the oil pan matting surface and everything else.

Oh yeah, becareful while working inside the block, the edges are SHARP as hell. I have learned this through the years the hard way.....

one more reason a pair of mechanics gloves is the most often used tool in my tool box.

well, i tried it yor way, and it didnt quit work out for me. my main problem was that i tried to take the bearing cap bridge off without removing the right side cover. once i got that off, i just slipped a 10mm box end wrench in this slot between the main caps and the bridge on the ends. then it came right up. from there it was pretty simple. thanks for the help.
