Help High Idle Problem
I did a search and I could not find any information about this .... My car is idling at 1100-1400 rpm at idle and I can not figure it out. I have adjusted the idling screw, cleaned the iacv and its components, I thought it might be the fast idle air control valve but when I take the air box off then put my figer over the lower left throttle air hole it does not drop the idle -- it does have a little suction to it but not much like it could be leaking. The IACV when it is diconnected it does not drop rpm like it should and when you plug it back in the rpm picks up I get no check engine lights, -- Have checked most components can not figure it out-- the heated O2 sensor plug is old so if it is going bad or is bad could it effect idle?
I would appreciate anybody with experience about this to respond thank you

I am fighting almost the exact same problem with my 92 prelude si (h23a1). Do you get any CEL's? Sometimes the idle will drop lower than 1000rpm, but then the cel will come on and the idle will kick back up to about 1400.
I have tried blocking off the FITV, cleaned out the EACV, and recently replaced the o2 sensor with a new one. No luck so far.

no I do not get any check engine light .... I made adjustments to the idle screw but it occured and started happening when it was extremely hot then extremely cold the next day I live in arkansas and the temp in may could be 45 degrees one day then 85 the next it sucks
sounds like you got a leak somewhere. If you can hear some whistling then it's leaking somewhere. good luck
arkansas..? damn it sucks reall bad there.. i use to live there for only 3 months in ft. smith. whether sucks

since you mention timing and idle being related i wonder: if you have a high idle that you cant calm down, is it even worth checking the timing with a gun? helms says that it should be at about 700 +-50. Will the timing read different if it idles at say, 1600rpm?
