as long as you dont have very high compression, you can start it up, let it run until it reaches operating temp (while varying rpm), then shut it off, change the oil and go to the dyno to have it tuned. you will want to use something like hondata to tune it with.

then after tunning, change the oil again and your good to go. just make sure to vary the load on the engine for the first few hundred miles. in other words drive it like you normally would and dont drive at the same rpm for long periods of time.

also if you could get to the track after tunning it would be a good idea, this will ensure the rings seat right away.

so i could start up the car let it run till its normal temp. then change the oil and drive it down to the dyno its about 15 miles from my house, after its tuned change my oil again and drive for a few hundred miles and i should just run it down the track to set my rings in? do i need to change my spark plugs too? i was plan on throwing on a turbo kit after i break in my motor thanks

oh yah um what kind of oil should i use when breaking in the engine and what should i use after

yeah, start it up and let it reach temp but dont let it sit there and idle at the same rpm for the whole time, you wanna make sure to vary the rpm's. once it gets up to temp see if you notice any leaks or anything else wrong and make sure the fan is kicking on, this would be a good time to set the idle rpm and the base timing as well. then shut it down and change the oil. only use regular 10w30 for at least the first 500 miles if not longer otherwise using synthetic may not allow the rings to seat properly. im guessing you are running low compression since its built for boost so its probably going to run rich on the stock ecu. do you have hondata or something to tune it with? if so you may want to get a base map installed before driving the car to make sure its not rich enough to wash the cylinders down. bring some spare plugs to the dyno w/ you, you may need them. once you get it tunned, go ahead and change the oil again. it would be a great idea to make a few passes at the track as this will put a good load on the rings and help them to seat faster. once you run it on the dyno and at the track, its pretty much broken in for the most part. the rings will probably still seat a little more depending on how much you run it at the track, but its fine to go ahead and install the turbo at this point and then retune again. goodluck.

one more thing for tuning the engine its just like adjusting the timming, adjust the idle, what else do i need to do before i drive down for tuning the engine?
