Is it ok if I run my car with a header but no exhaust for a while?

it's going to be loud as ****. the 2 minute drive from my house to the muffler shop without an exhaust was the loudest 2 minutes ever.

car felt really slow too...

hrmm, there have been people that have gained a lot of hp just by running open header. you WILL get pulled over if you see a cop. it's going to be soo damn loud. open header with no cat means that you will face some hefty fines when you get caught. i was planning to do this at the track.

yeah, 2 min drive with an obd2 ecu, a CEL, and a light throttle foot meant the car was slow

open header i'm sure frees up some HP, but i can't even imagine the ungodly sound it would make at WOT...

Yea you'll get pulled over if your driving on the street.
But I never got pulled over, when my exhaust fell off the catalyic converter(rust) drove with no exhaust for a week and passed by 2 cops and nothing happend was very lucky but had excuse. Only drove to work, school and home. I think I lost some torque when vtec engaged.

what are you waiting to do?

if you were planning on driving around town, open header, yes you should wait for an exhaust because it is not a good idea.

Open header is pretty loud even at low rpms.

My car has never been muffled but it's just a weekend drag *****.....

The few times I ran open header when I had my old teg with the JDM DC 4-1 header... I was so ashamed..... it was sooo loud ... and I swear I felt sooooo F-in HIGH I couldn't think straight all day... no BS and I definitely felt like I lost power

You'll gain alot of hp with open header if you exhaust sucks.

Also, please people... if you're going to run an open header or an ECS cutout system, add a downturn pipe so you dont cook the undercoating off of your car.

very loud I had to drive with the windows down so I didn't go deaf, I didn't even bother listening to music.

How about a local dragstrip? My car makes my ears ring at 5K rpms. The helmet saves my ears.......

seriously, believe us when we say it's loud. it's so loud that if you were to drive around my hood with open header, i would find where you park the car, and **** it up so that you couldn't drive it anymore.

if it's just for the strip, fine. if you want to hear what it sounds like, disconnect your cat for a second.
