your probably oging to have to cut it off. you can try vice grips but i doubt it will work. if you have to cut it off, after you remove the header, heat up the head around the stud and after its fairly hot, press a piece of paraffin wax to the head where it meets the stud. although this may not sound very effective, it does help. if at all possible, get ahold of a twist socket---

and remove it. twist sockets are the ****. if that doesnt work, drill it out and use a helicoil.

i would buy the studs from honda. becuase exhaust studs are under a lot of stress. they are probably a little higher quality.

Do you have access to the bolt-out socket set by Craftsman? It is a GREAT way to remove stripped bolts.

If you cut the bolt off and damage the threads/stud, you will have to drill it out and just put a whole screw/bolt combination.

Warm up the bolt and touch a candle to it. It'll suck the wax right into the threads. Then clean off any surface wax on the nut and use some vice grips to get it off. Should work

dont waste your money on new studs....thats retarded...

and being that the stud sticks about an inch out....i doubt you could ever drill it out....

get some of the craftsman extractors like andy said...you will use them for other things, trust me....

just get one from a junkyard or something if you need a new one...but if it was me, i would just run a tap/die through the threads and over the stud when im done....

yea...uhm...i would hope that he wouldnt start drilling at the end of the stud. i mean anybody with any common sense would cut the stud off flush with the head before they drilled it out.

new studs = less chance you will have to go through this process again. preventative maintenance.

i ended up taking a chisel and pounding a groove in the nut, then hit the groove at an angle until the nut loosened. presto.
