Default H23 VTEC Build...

I started tearing my car apart for to get it ready for my H23 VTEC... H22 Head on my H23 block... Head is going to be milled this week and then im going to decide if i want to upgrade the valvetrain before i put it on...

Here it is before I started tearing everything apart, it ran PERFECT before I disassembled it...

I'm obsessive compulsive so I have to label everything I disconnect lol

USDM Downpipe w/Cat VS. JDM Downpipe w/Test Pipe

H22 Head before being worked...

I'll post more pics and info as the project progresses...

I decided to leave the bottom end alolne for now and I'm just going to mill the head, use a single layer headgasket and use flat bottomed vlaves to raise compression, it shoudl bring me up to around JDM h22 piston compression

dont forget your oil squirters!! H23's are not made to run as high rpm's as an h22. It will starve for oil without having the squirters spraying the pistons in high rpms. I do not think they just bolt in though...i believe you have to modify it a little. Correct me if i am wrong someone!

Oh don't worry... I am installing the oil squirters even though I'm not going to rev it like an it's an H22... Yeah they have to be bent so that they clear the internals when the crankshaft rotates...

Are you sure that the valve reliefs on h23 pistions are adequate enough to handle VTEC? milling/single layer gasket and flat valves will only increase your chances of hitting the piston during vtec.

There is enough vale clearance, im not worried about the pistons and valves hitting at all...

Valve clearance will not be a problem.

IMO, you should just buy a set of H22 pistons and slap them in to raise compression, instead of milling and using a thinner head gasket.

Good luck w/ the squirters; I've only heard of one person that got them to fit. I'm not using them in mine, and I'll be revving out.

I know I really should just swap out the pistons but I didn't want to mess with the bottom end until latter, but I think I just might anyways... Is it difficult to remove the pistons with the block still in the car? the head is off obviously though...

i have a h23 vtec i have no squirters, and it makes power to 9200 rpm and had no problems. u also lose oil pressure im not even sure if it will clear the 95 mm crank never checked. h series is the ****

If you have the head off, then it's easy as pie to take out the pistons.

Here is the intake manifold I'm using. It's pieced together form my H23 and from a JDM H22... FITV and EGR are both blocked off... I'm using OBD1 345cc Peak and Hold Injectors... Still need a Hondata intake manifold gasket...

And these injectors are for sale... OBD2 280cc Saturated Injectors...

Hello everyone i have a h23 vtec and it does not run but it cranks , we checked the distributor and we know the h22a distributor is different has no sensors for cranking they are all in the block so we used the h23 distributor but the wiring is different ???? i think !!! anyone with any input (who actually have h23/vtecs) would be greatly appreciated

Is it possible to have this post edited until he provides proof?? This is just spreading information that will only cause more untrue rumors to be spread over the internet.

I was thinking a mod could edit it until he porvided proof. I think that is fair since NO ONE has ever proven to make power that far up into the rpm band.

Just a suggestion.
