h22a4 wont start
ok i have a 94 prelude that had a h22a1 that blew up so i took a h22a4 and dropped it in and used my obd1 wiring harness obd1 distriduter and coil and the motor is in time and is getting fuel and spark but wont start what could it be i need help i have no cels and it will crank but my starter is about to be bad from trying to start so much it sticks sometimes and wont even engage to turn motor over but when it does the motor will turn over but wont actually fire and start sounds almost like it has no compression but the motor came out a running car i seen it run and ran great what could be my problem with motor not starting
Check to make sure that all your spark plug wires are where they are supposed to be. And then i would run a compression test. Thats a really weird situation. And are you getting fuel into the cylinder?
Things needed for engine to start-
1. Compression
2. Fuel
3. Spark
if all those are present check, your ignition wire to ensure it has 12v, check firing order of spark plug wires.
are you fuel injectors pulsing? Did you use the h22a4 injectors? Or your injector from the a1? Correct me if I'm wrong but the obd1 injectors a nd obd2 are different, they will not pulse. So the a4's may be the problem if using those injectors

correct the obd 1 are low resistance and use a resistor box that is mounted on the firewall. obd 2 are high resistance and use no resistor box. if you are using 0bd 2 injectors and resistor box that is not going to work. The pigtail should be different between these also if i remember correctly

ok i got new starter and i was turning it over im getting fuel and spark and my buddy was like dude ur out time and we double checked it and it is off mechanical timing but not by enought to not start (im guessing) so i guess im going to set the timing dead on and if that dont work guess im going to have to rebuild it
:'( ...can anyone send me the info on how to do timing cause its got these retarded balancing shafts and auto tensioner. i wish it was a simple as my b series honda was.. and my local auto stores said they cant get a book on it but any help would be great.. by the way i am using the obd1 injectors and obd1 dizzy with external coil and guess i should have invested in some adjustable cam gears cause my timing is only off by maybe 3 teeth or so. would this just completely stop it from starting the motor i even tried advancing and retarding igniton timing and it still just acts like it wont start just turns over and over and u and hear compression out exhaust but any help would be great IM STUMPED...

Retime it for sure. Also I found chilton repair manuel from a local napa, also on eBay about 20 bucks. Did you change the ecu? Switching motors from different obd gens can cause problems like that. It almost sounds like you crank sensor may not be reading if you did change ECUS. That could be the problem
ok thank you and "pabb4" when u put a obd2 motor in a obd1 car you use the obd1 distributor and the crank sensor and camshaft position sensor is in the distributor and im using the obd1 injectors also with stock ecu so pretty much its just like dropping a h22a or h22a1 in the car if u use the obd1 harness ecu and dizzy and injectors.. correct me if im wrong..
